Workshops and Groups
In addition to individual and family counseling services, we also offer group counseling, educational programs and workshops. Group counseling offers the advantage of receiving understanding and support from fellow group members who share similar experiences and issues. Some individuals may feel alone as they face their problems but the group attempts to counteract feelings of isolation by bringing individuals facing the same types of problems together. The Center also offers a wide variety of workshops and programs for businesses, professional organizations, civic organizations, churches and other faith-based organizations to improve mental and spiritual health in the homes, workplaces, schools, and faith communities of Central Texas. See below for an updated list of groups and workshops available.

Sacred Relationships: Marriage Enrichment Workshop .
When we are hurting, lonely, or scared, we turn to the person we love for comfort, safety, and encouragement. When we feel excited, successful, and joyful, we long to share it with the person we love. Infants and children automatically turn to their parents, their source of love. As adults, we need to “put and end to childish ways” (I Corinthians, 13:11) and intentionally attend to and nurture our intimate relationships.
At the Sacred Relationships workshop, couples practice attending to each other and getting to know each other in dimensions we may neglect or take for granted in our day to day lives.
Please consider spending the day with us and other loving, intentional couples as we explore the relational virtues of Hospitality, Sacrifice, and Joy.
Cost: $125/Couple (collected at workshop). Childcare available: $5/hr per child

Adolescent Dating & Parenting Values: A Theological Reflection
This presentation uses a theological reflection process to help parents of adolescents (and soon to be parents of adolescents) to explore and articulate their values and beliefs around the issues of adolescent romance and dating. At the completion of this workshop, parents will have language to communicate their values with their adolescents, will have the outline of a family dating policy statement, and will have established a community of support among other parents.

Transforming Anger to Love: a Journaling workshop
This workshop teaches a journaling technique called the Love Letter. This technique developed by John Gray, author of Men are From Mars, Women are from Venus, helps us transform our anger and use our anger to connect with our core emotions of hurt, fear, guilt, and love.
Time: 1.5 hr.
Facilitator: Jay Nickel, LPC
Prayer Practices
This series of classes teaches a variety of contemplative prayer techniques: Silence; Lectio Divina; Jesus Prayer; Ignation Imagery; and Healing/Intersessory prayer.
