SPECIAL PROGRAMS

HOPE for HEROES

This program offers free counseling for military personnel and their families who have unmet mental health needs as a result of service in Iraq or Afghanistan. Services are provided in our main office, our satellite offices, in the soldier's home, or other non-traditional locations. This program is the first of its kind in our community and is funded through the Texas Resources for Iraq and Afghanistan Deployment (TRIAD) Fund of the San Antonio Community Foundation. Military individuals and families in Travis, Williamson, or Hays counties are eligible. All services are confidential and will not be reported to the military. For more information or to schedule an appointment call 1-877-426-HOPE (4673).

Healthy Aging

Healthy Aging is an outreach program providing home-based counseling focused on the unique needs of the older adults in our community with limited mobility.  We provide counseling for depression, anxiety, elder abuse, grief and loss, family discord, end of life issues and many other problems that threaten an older adults' mental health and quality of life.  This program is funded by  A Glimmer of Hope Foundation.

Capital IDEA

The Center has developed a strong partnership with Capital IDEA, a local Austin non-profit that helps working families break out of poverty. Many of these underemployed individuals are in desperate need of mental health care but cannot afford services. Capital IDEA refers them to the Samaritan Center. In return, the Center refers our underemployed clients to Capital IDEA, thus creating a mututally beneficial collaboration that benefits the entire community. Travis county individuals are eligible. Services are free.

COPE  and Austin Travis County Juvenile Probation

Through a collaboration with the Travis County Mental Health Court the Center provides mental health assessments, individual and family counseling for adolescents who are pre-adjudicated. COPE (Collaborative Opportunities for Postive Experiences) is the first juvenile mental health program in the nation for youth before they are prosecuted and adjudicated on a charge. COPE diverts young offenders from court proceedings and criminal involvement by providing services and treatment for the juvenile and family. Travis county individuals and families are eligible. Services are free.
