Samaritan Counseling Center Services

 

The Samaritan Center provides affordable counseling to prevent and treat abuse, strengthen families, and help individuals develop healthy life skills. We serve Children, Youth, Women, Men, Older Adults, Veterans and Military Families from our main office in Central Austin, or one of our satellite locations in East Austin, San Marcos, Round Rock and Georgetown. 

 

 

 

Youth and Family Counseling

Services provide individual, group and family counseling for ages 3-18 and their parents/family.  These include play therapy, sand tray, parenting support, and assessment, individual and family counseling for pre-adjudicated youth ages 10-16 referred by the juvenile justice system.  Issues include child physical and sexual abuse, neglect, self-esteem, bi-polar, ADHD, family discord, and substance abuse.  Co-parent education for divorced parents available.  Scholarships are available for those who qualify funded by St. Luke's Episcopal Health CharitiesThe Trull Foundation, and the generous contributions of individuals, corporations, and churches. 

 

Adult Counseling & Education

 

Services offer individual, group and family counseling for young adults to a geriatric population.  Counseling provided for grief and loss, anger management, bi-polar and depression, divorce and separation, substance abuse and addiction, stress, anxiety, relationships, life transition, marriage enrichment, and pre-marriage preparedness.  Seminars, retreats, workshops & education provided on a host of topics to improve the mental health of the community.  Scholarships are available for those who qualify funded by St. Luke's Episcopal Health CharitiesThe Trull Foundation, and the generous contributions of individuals, corporations, and churches. . 

 

 

HOPE for HEROES

 

The Hope for Heroes program serves military personnel and their families who have unmet mental health needs due to service in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Individual, group and family counseling is provided to address a wide variety of issues including post traumatic stress, anger management, substance abuse and addiction, relationship discord, family violence, depression, and anxiety.  Workshops provided to educate the community on the unique problems of soldiers and their families.  Home-based services as well as in-office are available.  Services are provided at no charge through the TRIAD Funds of the San Antonio Area Foundation and the Texas Veteran's Commission Fund for Veteran's Assistance.

  

Women's Counseling & Education 

 

Services provide individual and group counseling and education programs designed specifically for the mental and behavioral health problems that disproportionably affect women more than men.  More women than men struggle with mood and eating disorders and are more often victims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse.  Women use alcohol and drugs differently for different reasons and women are more vulnerable financialy in situations of divorce or single parenthood. Scholarships are available for those who qualify funded by St. Luke's Episcopal Health CharitiesThe Trull Foundation and the generous contributions of individuals, corporations, and churches. 

 

 

Workforce Transition

Services offer individual and group counseling and workshops  focused on career issues affecting oneÙs mental health.  Services include career problem discernment, career assessments, job search, resource and strategy coaching, interview skill development and resume review. Scholarships are available for those who qualify funded by St. David's Community Health Foundation, St. Luke's Episcopal Health Charities, The Trull Foundation and the generous contributions of individuals, corporations, and churches.  

               

Congregation & Clergy Care

 

Services provide individual and group counseling for members of the clergy focusing on the unique problems of congregational leadership and personal development.  Services for clergy families are available as well as conflict resolution and organizational consultation for congregations.  Workshops and seminars are provided on a host of topics to improve the mental and spiritual health of the faith community.
